Weed Science Society of America. Meeting
Organized in 1950 as Weed Society of America; absorbed Association of Regional Weed Control Conferences in 1956; changed name to Weed Science Society of America in 1967. Made up of individuals and organizations engaged or interested in the study and control of weeds. Its aims are to promote knowledge of weeds and their control, to encourage legislation and regulation concerning weeds, to seek high standards in weed science education and to encourage research and publication of the results of research. Regional organizations which are represented on the Executive Committee of WSSA include the Northeastern Weed Science Society, the North Central Weed Control Conference, the Western Society of Weed Science, the Southern Weed Science Society and the Canada Weed Committee.
