Cohn, Adolf, 1834-1871

Ludwig Adolf (Adolph) Cohn was born in 1834 in Breslau. In 1851 he was already studying history at the university, first in Breslau, then in Berlin. His dissertation was written on Heinrich von Löwen. After this dissertation he converted to Christianity and completed his Habilitation (second dissertation required in Germany to become a university professor) in Göttingen in 1857. He published several books in his short life and died in 1871 in Göttingen.
