North, Foster, b. 1861.
In 1885, North, a student at the University of Illinois, was suspended and not allowed to graduate for refusing to attend chapel services.
The son of Henry County (Ill.) abolitionist and lawyer, Levi North (1821-1901), Foster had matriculated at the Illinois Industrial University (precursor to the Univ. of Ill.) in 1879 and was 40 days away from graduation when he was suspended.
