D. in educational administration from the University of Chicago, 1941; missionary teacher of woodworking and printing at Albert Academy in Sierra Leone for the United Brethren Church, 1923-1925; professor of education and psychology, Director of Admissions at Wheaton College, 1944-1960; married Muriel Murray (1922), who was born February 12, 1899 and who taught science in Sierra Leone (1923-1925) and public school in Illinois (1951-1964); Muriel Nichols died in 1980.
