Michael, Franz H.
Franz H. Michael was a professor of Far Eastern political science and Chinese history, and assistant director of the Far Eastern and Russian Institute at the University of Washington. Born in Germany, Michael received his Sinological degree at the University of Berlin and his doctor's degree in political science and law at the University of Frieburg. He left Germany after Hitler's seizure of power, teaching at the National Chekiang University in Hangchow, China, from 1934 to 1938. In 1942 Michael joined the staff of the University of Washington. He authored several books and numerous professional articles.
