Eastern Association for Physical Education of College Women

$B Formed in 1910 by Amy Morris Homans, director of physical training at Wellesley College, and other women directors of physical training in New England Colleges. In 1915 the group officially formed as the Association of Directors of Physical Education for Women to discuss the problems of organization and administration of PE departments in colleges. Membership expanded in 1940s to include all physical education faculty and staff. In 1948, the organization's name was changed to Eastern Association for Physical Education of College Women. The EAPECW was dissolved in 1992.
