Robinson, Thomas R. (Thomas Richardson), 1761-1851

The son of Thomas and Sarah (Richardson) Robinson, of Newport, R.I.; moved to Vergennes, Vt., in 1792 where he was described as a manufacturer. In 1793 he settled in Ferrisburgh, Vt., on land deeded to him by his brother William, where he operated a farm, later to become the Rokeby Museum. He also participated in other business enterprises including a grist mill in North Ferrisburgh and was active in Quaker movements and abolitionism. He married Jemima Fish (1761-1846) and their children were Rowland T. (1796-1879) and Abigail, who married Nathan C. Hoag, a member of another Vermont Quaker family.
