Adams, Adrienne

Adrienne Adams, was born February 8, 1906 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She received her B.A. at Stephens College in 1925, and continued her education at the University of Missouri and the American School of Design in New York. Married to the author, and her occasional collaborator, John Lorizo Anderson, Miss Adams worked as an artist, illustrator, and children's book author. Her first illustrated work, Bag of Smoke, written by her husband, was published in 1942. Since the 1940s, Miss Adams has continued to publish prolifically and in 1960 and 1962 was recognized for excellence with the Caldecott Honor Book citations for Houses From the Sea and The Day we Saw the Sun Come Up , respectively.
