Chapman, Maristan.
Under the pseudonym Maristan Chapman, Mary Illsley Chapman (1895-1978) and John Stanton Chapman (1891-1972) authored several novels set in Tennessee, three series of children's mystery and adventure books, a biography of Duc de Morny, and many short stories, essays, articles, radio scripts, poems and commercials. Englishman Stanton Chapman was an engineer in aircraft manufacturing during World War I and invented a timer which allowed pilots to fire their guns without damaging their propellors and a petrol pump which aided the flow of fuel in combat-damaged planes. After the war, the Chapmans pursued an independent lifestyle in the United States, writing and traveling, initially in a motor home they designed and outfitted.
