Whitworth College Board of Trustees.

The folders in this file recite the history of the administration of Whitworth University, Spokane, Washington, through the eyes of its board of trustees. The story begins with the founding of the Sumner Academy by George F. Whitworth and four of his colleagues on December 12, 1883. Following the move to Spokane on property donated by J. P. Graves, the minutes of the board continue the story to 1923 (Box 5). There is a gap in the record up to the coming of Frank F. Warren in 1940. The record then continues through the presidency of Mark L. Koehler (1964-1969) and the coming of Edward B. Lindaman, who served as president from 1970 to 1980.
