Rogers, Donald P. (Donald Philip), 1908-
Donald P. Rogers (1908- ), a crypotogamic botanist and mycologist, served as Curator of the NYBG Cryptogamic Herbarium from 1947-1957. His specialty was the toxicology and morphology of Basidiomycetes, particularly Thelephoraceae. He was an active member of the Mycological Society of America and managing editor of the journal Mycologia. Rogers was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1908. He received his B.A. from Oberlin College in 1929; his M.A. in 1930 from the University of Nebraska and his Ph. D. in 1935 from the University of Iowa. Prior to his service at NYBG, he was a National Research Fellow at Harvard University (1936), Instructor of Botany at Oregon State College (1936-1940); Instructor in Botany at Brown University (1941-1942), Associate Professor of Botany at American International College (1942-1945). In 1957 he left NYBG for the University of Illinois.
