Miller, Ralph E., 1908-1985

Ralph E. Miller was born in Independence, Iowa on February 17, 1908. He earned his B.A. in agriculture in 1931 and M.S. in rural sociology in 1934 from Iowa State University. Miller joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota in 1934 as a part-time rural sociology instructor in the school of agriculture. He was promoted to assistant professor in 1943, associate professor in 1946 and professor in 1960.

Miller was also the student personnel administrator for the school of agriculture from 1934 until 1960, when he became director of placement for the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Home Economics. In 1970, when the college was divided into three separate colleges, based upon discipline, Miller became student personnel administrator for the College of Home Economics. He retired from the University of Minnesota in 1976 as professor emeritus of home economics. Ralph Miller died in November 1985.
