Iowa City People's Bicentennial Commission.

The Iowa City People's Bicentennial Commission was organized in 1975 as a student group by the Center for Peace and Justice on the University of Iowa campus. The Iowa City organization was affiliated with the national non-profit organization, the People's Bicentennial Commission (PBC), founded in 1971 to commemorate the 200th birthday of the United States by stimulating a renewed commitment to American democratic ideals as perceived by the group. These ideals included peace and non-violence, social justice, tax resistance, and independence from large business interests.
