Hawkes, Lenville, 1909-1984
Chicken farmer, of West Cumberland, Me.; skilled in driving oxen and hired, during the Depression, by the Maine Dept. of Agriculture to drive a team of oxen through New York and Philadelphia to deliver a cart of Maine potatoes to President Herbert Hoover in 1931.
