The Standing Committee on Appointments, Reappointments and Promotions (SCARP) is charged with reviewing and making recommendations regarding nominations for appointments, reappointments, and promotions of faculty; recommending membership of ad hoc search committees for first appointments and appointments with tenure; recommending membership of review committees for promotions into nontenured and tenured posts; and, at the request of the dean, adjudicating grievances brought by faculty members regarding appointments, reappointments, and promotions. The Committee was established in 1977.
