Powers, Richard C., 1954-
Richard C. "Dick" Powers joined the 10th Mountain Division at Ft. Lewis, Wash. and was assigned to Company K of the 87th Infantry Regiment, but later served with Companies B, C, D and Headquarters of the First Battalion. He was also stationed at Camp Hale, Colo.; Fort Ord, Calif.; Kiska, Alaska; Camp Carson, Colo.; and Camp Swift, Tex. before being sent to Italy. Powers received the Bronze Star Medal for his actions in the Apennine Mountains and Po Valley during April 14-30, 1945. He attained the rank of First Lieutenant and retired from the military as a Lieutenant Colonel.
