Goodwin, William B. (William Brownell), 1866-
William Goodwin was born in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Rev. Francis Goodwin and Mary Alsop Jackson Goodwin. He attended Saint Paul's School in New Hampshire, Trinity College, and graduated from Yale in 1888. He worked for the Aetna Insurance company for 40 years as a sepcial agent in Ohio, Seattle, and San Francisco. Goodwin was the author of "The Lure of Gold", the result of his investigations of Spanish remains in Jamaica, Haitit, Georgia, and Florida. He also wrote "The Ruins of Great Ireland in New England". and "The Truth About Leif Erickson and the Greenland Voyages to New England". As a result of his research, he amassed a large collection of rare books and maps of eastern North America and the Caribbean.
