Trollope, Anthony, 1815-1882

Trollope was born on Apr. 24, 1815 in London, England; attended Winchester and Harrow; worked as a junior clerk in the General Post Office and was then transferred as a postal surveyor to Ireland; in 1859 he moved back to London, resigning from the civil service in 1867; stood unsuccessfully as a Liberal candidate for Parliament in 1868; became a novelist, known for his Barsetshire and Palliser series of novels, among others; individual novels include: Barchester Towers (1857), Can you forgive her? (1865), The Eustace diamonds (1873), and The way we live now (1875); he died in London on Dec. 6, 1882.
