Valdez, David, 1949-
David Valdez was born on June 1, 1949 in Alice, Texas. He graduated from the University of Maryland - College Park with a B.A. in 1978. He served in the Air Force from 1967 to 1971, starting out as a field photographer. He has served in the following capacities over his career as a professional photographer: stringer photographer for the United States Information Agency; Dunlop Studios; Department of Agriculture; and Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary at the Department of Housing ad Urban Development. He left public service to become Chief Photographer for Nation's Business magazine. In 1983, he was selected to serve as the Vice President's Photographer, to then Vice President George H. W. Bush. In 1988, when Mr. Bush became President, he became the President's Photographer and Director of the White House Photo Office. He left the White House in 1993 to serve as General Manager of Photography for Walt Disney Attractions. David Valdez's work has been published in various publications such as Life, Newsweek, Time, U.S. News and World Report, Forbes, and People. In 1997, he published a book entitled, George Herbert Walker Bush: A Photographic Profile. Since May 2002, he has served as Vice President of Business Development for Blue Pixel, a digital consulting group.
