Snyder, Murray, 1911-1969.

Murray Snyder (1911-1969) was born in Brooklyn, New York. He attended college in San Antonio, Texas, and worked as a sports reporter for the San Antonio Light, from 1928 to 1929. He later worked for the Brooklyn Eagle, serving in New York, Albany and Washington, D.C. After briefly working as a press aide for the Borough President, he joined the staff of the New York Post where he worked as a reporter. After military service in the U.S. Army in World War II he became chief political writer for the New York Herald Tribune. From January 20, 1953 to March 21, 1957 he was the Assistant Press Secretary to President Eisenhower. He next worked as Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the Pentagon until retiring in 1961. He was a member of the National Press Club. He died on November 2, 1969.
