Robinson, Fred L., 1889-1969

Fred L. Robinson was born on June 24, 1889 in Philadelphia, Tennessee. He arrived in Montana in May 1911 and established a ranch in Phillips County, north of Wagner. He also worked for a time with the Bureau of Reclamation and then purchased a general store in Wagner. He served in World War I, and then after the war was elected Phillips County assessor. In 1922 he formed a partnership to run an auto business He served in the Montana Senate from 1937 to 1949 and from 1953 to 1961. He was a longtime advocate of improved highways and in particular for the building of a bridge over the Missouri River south of Malta. That bridge was eventually named for him. Fred Robinson married Cecelia Skorpen in 1923. He died in Phoenix, Arizona, in late November, 1969.
