Virginia. State Air Pollution Control Board
Under Title 10, Chapter 1.2, Code of Virginia, the State Air Pollution Control Board is responsible for the formulation of enviromental policy relative to air pollution and the adoption of rules and regulations for the implementation of this policy. It may grant local variances, issue orders and permits, and set and collect fees as part of its enforcement process. Enactment of local air pollution control ordinances is subject to Board approval. Hearings are held by the Board prior to action against pollutant sources. These records document the development of enviromental policies by the Board and the overall supervision of enforcement of its rules and regulations.
