Read, William, 1754-1845

Members of the Read family lived in Charleston and Georgetown, S.C.; William Read (1754-1845), was a prominent physician of Charleston, S.C. and a plantation owner. William Read married Sarah Harleston, and their children included John Harleston Read (1788-1859); son of of James Read (d. 1778) and Rebecca Bond Read; brother of Jacob Read (1752-1816), a judge and politician of Charleston and Christ Church Parish, S.C
