Established in 1987 as a forum to explore the conditions needed for a sustainable peace, and to develop positive alternatives for security in the nuclear age; headquarters located first at the Sociology Department of Boston College (Chestnut Hill, MA), later in Washington D.C.; founder: W.H. Ferry; published books, background papers; ceased operation in 1990 or 1991.
