Roemmelt, Chester W., 1902-1981.

Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Chester W. Roemmelt graduated with the Norwich University class of 1922. During his time at Norwich, he was a member of the track and fencing squads as well as the dramatic club. Following his graduation, Roemmelt held a commission in the U. S. Army Reserve and served in the Cavalry from 1923 to 1942. He was on active duty 1942-1946, serving at the Armored School at Fort Knox, KY. He retired from the Reserve in 1954 with the rank of major. Following the war, Chester Roemmelt was employed by the New York Central Railroad for twenty-five years. He moved to Vermont in 1953. Roemmelt served as a deputy sergeant-at-arms for the Vermont legislature until his retirement in 1967.
