Levensaler, L. A.
L. A. (Lewis A.) Levensaler (1879-1974), who was born in San Francisco, California, arrived in Valdez, Alaska, in May of 1903. He was a geologist, mining engineer, and surveyor for the Anaconda Copper Mining Company, the Kennecott Mining Company, the American Smelting and Refining Company, and in private practice. He spent the major part of 36 years working in many regions of Alaska: the Copper River area, Prince William Sound, Nome, Candle, and Fairbanks. His last trip in Alaska was in 1941.
