For history of the Lutheran Council in the USA (LCUSA), see OCLC #38922091.) The LCUSA's Division of Theological Studies conducted theological studies, participated in and sponsored dialogues with other denominations and religious groups, and sponsored theological conferences. The LCUSA was terminated in 1987 at the founding of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
