Alexander, Cecil Frances, 1818-1895
Cecil Frances (Fanny) Alexander was an Anglo-Irish writer best remembered for writing hymns. Her primary audience was children, and she sought to educate and explain through her verse. Although certain of her political views make modern interpretation of elements of her work problematic, several of her hymns continue to be popular and widely available.
