            <abstract>Collection includes 3 volumes and assorted documents, many of which are written in Arabic.  One volume is an illuminated manuscript, "written in the Mahomedan year 504," that presents the principals of Mahomedan law in poetry format.  A second volume is written entirely in Arabic with no translation.  A third volume is an Arabic-to-English phrase book or dictionary.  Papers include: contracts in both Arabic and English detailing various aspects of trade with Zanzibar; and letters between the Sultan of Zanzibar and several ship captains.  Two photographs are included in the collection. </abstract>
