Unfortunately, most of the lesser known poets could not garner the expected recognition and readings through the efforts of the circuit, and because of that Jeanetta felt compelled to give up at the end of the first season in 1971. Bergé was an active member of the New York City literary scene in the 1960's and 1970's and her papers include substantial materials relating to readings and the small press scene during this period. Of particular note are the archives of Center magazine which Bergé edited and material for the Mississippi review which she also edited for one issue.
