Manuscript drafts of a novel which was subsequently privately printed in 1820. Title continues: "In which the virtues, & vices, & the effects of a character under the influence of papism are fairly stated." Includes some corrections in the first physical volume, which appears to include the whole text, followed by additional manuscript fragments. At the end of the text is a note by Charles Lloyd saying that he originally wrote the novel in 1789 and finished writing out this copy in 1800. The second volume consists of a fair copy divided into two parts, called "volumes," with the text incomplete. Bound in worn half leather with marbled paper boards; housed in cloth cases.
