Also included are letters, receipts, and bills of sale pertaining to John Bacon, Richard Bacon, Edmund Bacon, and William Bacon, primarily for the settlement of John Bacon's estate and the purchase of slaves. Two of the letters are from Edmund Bacon to William J. Bacon, 1864 June 4, and 1865 March 14, and discuss the family, management of William's farm during his absence, crops, slaves running off to join the Union Army and other Civil War news.
