She reported she was kidnapped and held against her will. The trial surrounding her case was lengthy and eventually led to her being transported to the American colonies as punishment for perjury. She settled in Wethersfield, Connecticut, where she married John Treat and had several children. Woodward researched the story and wrote an essay that he delivered to the Connecticut Historical Society in January, 1894. Also in this collection are clippings of other cases or stories of murders or disappearances that were never solved.
