A 1901 letter to a Mrs. Holroyd mentions the preparation of tempera pictures for the New Gallery, and a letter of 1905 to Sydney Cockerell concerns a manuscript at Oxford thought to have been illuminated by one of the Limbourg brothers. The collection includes a heavily annotated, hand illustrated typescript by W. Thomas Smith entitled "'The Vision' of Lodovico Il Moro" concerning the attribution of a recently discovered painting to Leonardo da Vinci. It is accompanied by a letter from Smith (May 21, 1920) detailing the genesis of his manuscript and asking Colvin to read it. Thirteen miscellaneous letters by Colvin, ca. 1872-1926, with references to an exhibition of etchings by Jean Louis Forain, paintings thought to be by Rembrandt in Munich and Brunswick, and business of the British Museum are also included.
