Bulk of the collection consists of both official and personal correspondence documenting his naval career and includes navy requests, assignments, claims, and instructions, complete correspondence files for his years, 1937-1939, as president of the naval War College, with information on the Munich Crisis, 1938, the American Naval Mission in Brazil, with civic organizations, with Heads of Bureau of Navigation, and with prominent naval officers, including Jonas Ingram, William Moffet, Edward C. Kalbfus, Chester W. Nimitz, and David F. Sellers, and letters of condolence upon the death of his wife, Cornelia, in 1944. Speeches of Snyder as well as Ernest J. King, Chester W. Nimitz, and James Forrestal are included. Miscellany includes programs, invitations, maps, newspaper clippings of the Spanish American War and Dewey's victory at Manila Bay, 1898, scrapbooks of Great White Fleet visits to foreign ports, 1907-1908, and the return of remains of John Paul Jones to USA, 1908, and diplomas and certificates.
