The Papers consist of material relating to the Hendricks family, pioneers in the American copper industry and prominent members of the Sepharidc Jewish community in New York, and related families. They begin with the import trade of Uriah Hendricks (1737-1798) and his son Harmon (1771-1838), continuing with the manufacture of copper at the mill begun by Harmon at Belleville, New Jersey, and carried on by their descendants under the name Hendricks Brothers. They include business and family papers, including loose correspondence and business records, ledgers and account books, letterbooks, indentures, mortgages, deeds, maps, blueprints, journals, scrapbooks, photographs, memorabilia, and ephemera.

Tax assessments, receipts, a land title deduction, a pamphlet, and a cancelled check related to Harmon and Henry Hendrcks (1824-1866). The assessments and receipts mostly relate to property taxes, taxes for improvements such as sewers, etc. The pamphlet concerns the incorporation of the Interest Bank of the State of New-York. Also includes two items for Tobias J. Tobias.

Collection encompasses field notes and correspondence taken during expedition to excavate Zuñi villages. Field notes on the Museum expedition were maintained by Frederick W. Hodge, Harmon Hendricks, Jesse L. Nusbaum, and Edwin F. Coffin. Field notes provide lists and descriptions of artifacts excavated, and diagrams of rooms including church and monastery, and burials. Collection also contains manuscripts and research notes written by Hodge based upon his fieldwork. Included are lists of burials with associated objects; some photographs used in publications; and discussions of the pottery and architecture of Hawikuh.

The information in the collection deals mainly with the economic aspects of the company, its operations, and its numerous technological advancements, which take the form of diagrams, illustrations, and specification charts. The volumes have been divided into three series: Correspondence, Orders, and Account books. The bulk of the collection can be found in the correspondence, because this series spans the longest period of time - from 1836 to 1867 - and contains the richest records, touching on finance, company operations, orders, and politics.
