Includes: letter from John Shillinglaw to George Merryweather of New York, 6-23 Feb. 1880, about their mutual interest in Captain Cook and Cook scholarship; two letters from George Merryweather, to Notes and queries (London), 30 April 1923, and to Redwood Library, 25 June 1923, offering articles and data he had collected on Cook for publication. Also, newspaper clipping of letter to the London Echo, ca. Feb. 1912, signed Wm. Slaughter, on the topic of raising a statue of Cook in London; undated clipping from auction catalog, offering original ed. of three volumes of Cook's voyages.
