Collection includes correspondence, inventories, and other papers by or relating to Robert Penn Warren and Eleanor Clark. Materials relate chiefly to the appraisals and dispositions of their archives by J. Howard Woolmer, who became executor of Warren's literary estate in 1980. Warren's archive, originally on deposit at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University, was purchased by the Beinecke Library in 1986. Clark's archive, originally on deposit at Vassar College, was purchased by the Beinecke Library in 1988. The correspondence consists of letters to and from Woolmer. Letters with Warren and Clark discuss appraisals, sales, and literary and personal matters. Other correspondents include the Beinecke and Yale University libraries, Joseph Blotner, and James A. Grimshaw. There are manuscript inventories of the two archives, presumably in Woolmer's hand, and acknowledgment letters and lists, dating from 1980 to 1986, of materials in Warren's archive. Other materials include clippings, contracts, and financial records.

This collection contains correspondence, photographs, clippings, postcards, newsletters, student and architectural drawings, and other materials mainly related to Gordon Bunshaft's projects and activities while employed as a partner in the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. The dates of the material span 1909-1990, with bulk dates of 1950-1979. Most of the information regarding Bunshaft's architectural projects is in the form of photographs and clippings. A portion of the collection documents Gordon and Nina Bunshaft's residences in Manhattan and East Hampton, New York. In addition to documenting his projects, the collection contains photographs and correspondence between Bunshaft, his wife Nina, and family and friends, including artists Jean Dubuffet and Henry Moore.The bulk of the drawings in the collection consists of sketches, rubbings and watercolors that Bunshaft created while he was a Rotch Travelling Scholar in Europe from 1935 to 1936. Additionally there are drawings by Bunshaft for his residences in Manhattan and East Hampton, New York. Lastly, drawings that are not related to Bunshaft's student work include an abstract drawing, two drawings for a radio cabinet, and a sketch plan of a bungalow. All of these drawings are cataloged at the item-level in Columbia's Library Online Catalog (CLIO) and can be found by searching by the accession numbers as given in this finding aid.

The Beinecke Family Papers consist of twenty-one albums containing manuscript and printed materials, photographs, and original documents detailing the history of Edwin J. Beinecke and his family, the Weigle and Mauer families, the Sperry and Hutchinson Company, and the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. Materials contained within the albums date from the eighteenth century to 1980. These volumes were compiled by Fred L. Mayer between 1972 and 1980. Also included are eight volumes of letters and cards of condolence on the occasion of Edwin J. Beinecke's death in 1970. One box of miscellaneous print, typescript, and manuscript materials is also included.

Langston Hughes collection, 1924-1969

The Langston Hughes Collection consists of correspondence, writings, photographs, sound recordings, video recordings, electronic files, and other material documenting the life, work, and remembrance of Langston Hughes. Series I, Josephine DeWitt Rhodehamel Gift, is organized into three subseries: Letters from Langston Hughes, Writings of Langston Hughes and Writings of Others. There are letters to Rhodehamel and holograph and typescript versions of poems for Dear Lovely Death. Series II, Material from Other Sources, is organized into four subseries: Correspondence, Photographs, Audiovisual Materials, and Electronic Files. There are groups of letters to Arna Bontemps, Harold Jackman, Arthur Spingarn, Nathaniel White and others. Audiovisual material consists of commercial recordings of Langston Hughes's work, as well as video recordings of two sessions from Yale University's "Langston Hughes and His World" conference in February 2002. Electronic files include preliminary and final versions of the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library's online exhibition, "Langston Hughes at 100."
