A petition signed by Luis de Tovar Godinez and Phelipe Morán de la Zerda, in which they ask the Viceroy of New Spain to publicly acknowledge and obey the judgment in their favor issued by the Consejo de Indias in the name of the King of Spain, Philip IV. The signed response, dated October 20, 1647 (or 1642), possibly by the Viceroy, either García Sarmiento de Sotomayor, Conde de Salvatierra or Juan de Palafox y Mendoza, in which he agrees to obey the king's order, appears above the petition.

Title: Documents pertaining to the reorganization of parishes in Mexico City : Mexico City, 1623 June 1.

Official copies, dated June 1, 1623, of documents from 1538-1623, concerning the reorganization of parishes in Mexico City. On Aug. 9, 1621, Philip IV orders the viceroy, Diego Carrillo, marqués de Gelves, to resolve these problems by meeting with church and city officials. Reports by Luis Tovar Godinez, viceroyalty secretary, on May 6, May 9, and May 21, 1623 document actions and resolutions of a junta composed of archbishop Serna, cathedral dean, Dr. Juan de Salcedo, and canon Dr. Diego de Guevara, who propose 3 new parishes: Santísima Trinidad, Santa María de Gracia, and Santa Ana. A copy of these documents is ordered by Tovar Godinez on June 1, 1623, at the request of viceroy Gelves. Other documents included are a list of public works completed during the administration of viceroy marqués de Guadalcazar (1612-1621), and a brief financial summary of revenues during that period from "tributos" and other taxes on playing cards, gunpowder, and quicksilver.
