Andrew Jackson Montague papers, 1854-1938, contain correspondence, financial records, letter books, newspaper clippings, pictures, printed materials, scrapbooks, and speeches chronicling Montague's career as a lawyer, U.S. Attorney for Western Virginia, Attorney General of Virginia, and United States Congressman. Papers highlight Montague's political career and his participation in the Carnegie Endowment for International peace and other organizations and conferences. Some papers concern Montague's activities as a trustee of the Carnegie Institution of Washington and of George Washington University, as well as his teaching career at Richmond College.

The collection consists chiefly of letters to Betty Cocke mentioning briefly his dismissal from the Justice Dept.; speaking engagements; his youth, the University of Virginia, and the Civil War; mutual acquaintances; death of his son from throat cancer; health and hospitalizations; and Woodrow Wilson. The collection also contains a letter to Thomas Pinckney Bryan elaborating on his letter to Eppa Hunton proposing the abolition of football at the University of Virginia following the death of Archer Christian in a game against Georgetown. There is also a letter from Percy Cross Standing requesting a signed photograph and biographical information for his book on famous guerilla leaders. There is also a clipping from a New Haven paper, 1910, containing a letter from a former member of the 16th New York Cavalry to Mosby and his reply. Also included are miscellaneous items, including clippings, a magazine photo and a copy of an address by President Taft to the United Daughters of the Confederacy signed by Mosby.

The collection consists chiefly of case files from Parker's law practise and insurance business in Franklin, Va. The files contain correspondence, legal documents, financial papers, and notes. Most of the cases concern estate settlement, bankruptcy, debt collection, divorce, and receivership. Parker's work as attorney for Camp Manufacturing Co., Franklin, Va. and as local counsel for the Southern Co. treasurer and member of the General Conference's Board of Education of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South are prsent, The collection also contains a postal album, a nutrition notebook, bar exam coaching notes, a draft of the Franklin Academy Company's charter application and ledgers to insurance policies, guardianship accounts, estate settlements and stocks. Parker's personal correspondence touches on state and national politics, the Methodist church, investments in Cuba, neutrality and World I, and his family and friends. Included are letters from John Steward Bryan, William Jennings Bryan (on divisions in the Democratic Party, 1900), Richard Evelyn Byrd, James Cannon, John Wood Fishburne, John Warwick Daniel, Edward Everett Holland, Eppa Hunton, William Atkinson Jones, William Alexander Lambeth, William Minor Lile, J.E. The collection contains the business, political and family papers of Williams, president of the Seabord Air Line Railway, asst. Secretary of the treasury, 1913, comptroller of the currency, 1914-21, and treasurer of the American Red Cross. The business papers contain correspondence, legal documents, financial statements, and stockholder lists, most of it from the railway and Williams's struggle to consolidate and maintain control of it. Papers from additional business interests including other railroads, investment banking, soil, fertilizer and mining companies are also represented. Political papers contain correspondence, minutes, reports, memoranda and court testimony. Chief topics are the Federal Reserve Board and Williams's opposition to its deflationary policies, efficient running of railroads in World War I, price fixing charges against the railroads and coal and steel operators. Other topics include his lawsuits against the Riggs National Bank for irreqular practices and the Senate controversy over his confirmation as comptroller. The papers also reflect his work as treasurer for the Red Cross and some of his Richmond civic and charitable activities. Family papers contain correspondence and legal papers, of Williams, his wife, and sons. There are also blueprints from the construction of their home, photographs, poetry and a commonplace book of John Langborne Williams. Many of Williams's speeches on financial and business topics are included as are news clippings documenting his entire career.
