Title: Papers and photographs, 1912-1990.

Papers of the Milwaukee, Wis. native related to his World War II service as the bandmaster for the 128th Infantry Band, 32nd Division. The bulk of the collection are photocopied letters received by Clauder thanking him and the 32nd Division band for concerts performed at various Army gatherings in the United States, Australia, and New Guinea. There are also letters commending the band for volunteering to fly rations to soldiers fighting at Buna. A folder of newspaper clippings provides information about the 32nd Division in New Guinea, the band, and Clauder's return to civilian life. Also included are several photographs of the band marching in parades, performing in New Guinea, band veterans playing at reunions, and a 1941 photograph of the band at Camp Beauregard (Louisiana). There is an individual photograph of Clauder, in uniform, standing with a "Red Arrow" drum in New Guinea. Two identified 1912 photographs show "Clauder's Band" lead by Joesph and William Clauder (most likely Joseph W. Clauder's grandfather and father).
