Collection consists primarily of petitions and memorials presented by colonial agent Bollan to the British parliament and/or Lords Commissioners and correspondence exchanged with British and American government officials. The government officials include William Wildman Barrington, Viscount Barrington; Thomas Hubbard (speaker of Massachusetts House, 1750-1758); Thomas Pelham-Holles, Duke of Newcastle; George Montague-Dunk, Second Earl of Halifax (president of the British Board of Trade); and John Pownall (secretary to British Board of Trade and Plantations). Subjects include the sugar trade, colonial boundaries, the Louisburg Expedition, and British military forces in America.

This collection contains papers of Thomas Hubbard, Harvard Treasurer and Commissary General of the Province of Massachusetts Bay, and his wife, Mary Jackson Hubbard. The papers document financial and legal transactions and include deeds of sale for land in Maine, detailed accounts of bonds and notes in the estates of the Hubbards following their deaths in 1773 and 1774, and other documents related to the settlement of their estates.

The commonplace book contains "observations extracted from sundry author's [ ] Thos. Hubbard. AD 1722" The journal was started by Hubbard as a young man. The journal was dormant for some 62 years when it was started up again by an individual covering their everyday life in 1784 Boston. The donation also included two letters sent in 1752 from the Minister Grindall Rawson to Thomas Hubbard, when he was Speaker of the House of Massachusetts.

Fifield written on the back in receipt of the contents; receipt (1742 Aug. 28) to Hutchinson from Richard Gookin for 3 pounds, 2 shillings; receipt (1746 Dec. 12) from James Bowdoin for 33 pounds, 5 shillings, 6 pence from tenants of the house owned by the late Mr. Dumenique; and receipt from Thomas Hubbard to Hutchinson for 80 pounds of his father's bond to Harvard College.
