Title: Larned-Russell-Dresser collection, 1782-1838

A collection of letters sent to and by members of the extended Larned, Russell, and Dresser family of Thompson, Connecticut. Simon and Rebecca Larned's son, Thaddeus, married Abigail Russell (daughter of Esther Talcott and Noadiah Russell). Their daughter, Abigail, married Jacob Dresser. The letters are arranged in chronological order. Among the correspondents are Thaddeus' brother Simon (b.1753) and son, Simon (1787-1810). The brothers also wrote to their father, Simon (b. 1721). One of the active writers was Jacob Dresser Jr. Dresser was the son of Jacob Dresser Sr. and Esther Johnson.There was regular correspondence between Jacob Jr. and wife Abigail (Larned) while he was in Waynesboro, Georgia. During that time he also corresponded with his parents. Darius Larned, a brother of Thaddeus, was the recipient of several letters, but does not seem to have written any that are in the collection. There are several, though, from his wife, Eunice, and sons Frederick Sylvester Larned and Benjamin Franklin Larned. Other correspondents include Sylvester Larned (son of Simon b. 1753), Noadiah Larned (son of Thaddeus and Abigail), and Joseph Russell (son of Esther Talcott and Noadiah Russell).
