Jascha Heifetz Collection, 1911-1972
Title:
Jascha Heifetz Collection 1911-1972
The collection contains primarily sound recordings of performances of Jascha Heifetz, but it also includes recordings of other artists, some of whom were collaborators with Heifetz, as well as one recording of his teacher, Leopold Auer. There are 920 10" and 12" sound discs, including test pressings, instantaneous discs and commercially released records. Most of the discs are 78 rpm recordings, but there are also a few 33 1/3 rpm discs. In addition to audio discs, the collection contains 1/4" magnetic tape recordings on 88 open reels. 61 of the tapes, made between December 14, 1954 and November 21, 1972, include date information on the boxes. 27 of the tapes are in boxes which are undated; however, recording dates for most of those tapes have been provided in the donor's inventory, which is also included in the collection.

Frederick R. Koch collection, 1640-1983
Title:
Frederick R. Koch collection, 1640-1983.
The Frederick R. Koch Collection consists of musical, literary, and historical materials collected by Frederick R. Koch, principally through purchases at public auctions, 1979-1986. Including individual items, concentrations of related materials, and several extensive archives, the collection is a broad and deep resource for study of the lives and works of a range of composers, authors, and other historical figures. Most materials are music manuscripts, literary manuscripts, drawings, and correspondence of European, English, and American composers, authors, and artists. Also present are historical manuscripts, photographs, albums, and other papers. While the contents of the collection span the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, most date from the nineteenth to early twentieth centuries, with particular strengths in French, Italian, German, and British music, French literature, and British art.

Title:
Jascha Heifetz Collection 1802-1987 (bulk 1911-1974)
The collection includes Heifetz's personal music library of original compositions, arrangements, and transcriptions (some of which are unpublished), his annotated parts and scores, holographs and manuscripts of many of his contemporaries, and hundreds of printed scores. Concert programs document his performances from 1911 to 1974, and photographs, photo albums, and scrapbooks, encompassing the violinist's entire life. The correspondence, constituting a small part of the collection, contains letters from such important musical figures of the 20th century as Leopold Auer, Benjamin Britten, Sergei Prokofiev, George Bernard Shaw, and Sir William Walton; correspondence from Heifetz is also housed in other Music Division collections.

Walter Trampler papers 1904-2005
Walter Trampler (1915-1997) was an American violist of German origin. One of the defining figures of his instrument, he performed with the Beaux Arts Trio; the Budapest, Juilliard, and Guarneri String Quartets; and was a founding member of the New Music String Quartet. He was also a renowned teacher. His papers document his life and career, mainly from the early 1950s to the mid-1990s. They contain correspondence, photographs, concert programs, scrapbooks, subject files, clippings, promotional material, a file on Trampler's memorial service, and Trampler's annotated and autographed scores.
