Title: Newgate Prison warrants, summons, etc. 1761-1826.

Collection of legal instruments, primarily warrants for arrest and detention in the Newgate Prison, and summons to trial for a variety of criminal offenses, including: embezzlement, forgery, attempted murder, murder, robbery, etc. Many of the documents are printed forms, filled-in in manuscript by justices of the peace; versos of most with descriptions of the accused (age, place of birth, height, hair and eye color, complexion, occupation). Other documents include orders from coroners to constables or other officers of the peace to detain prisoners; and a subscriber's receipt from the Society for Equitable Assurances on Lives and Survivorship.
