Papers, 1904-1957, mainly documenting her artistic career. They include a looseleaf notebook listing her paintings, their description, history and disposition, with a list of paintings sold, and a list of pictures painted in the summer of 1931 in Cuernavaca, Mexico; a small address book; photographs of her paintings, her family, and her summer home at Cragsmoor (N.Y.); a notebook containing a diary of trips to England, France and Spain in 1904, 1905 and 1922; a diary for 1926; some copies of a printed newsletter, the Cragsmoor journal; letters, mostly dealing with her work, written by and to dealers, museums, and purchasers, but including a copy of a letter written by Turner's mother in 1864; scrapbooks containing clippings, letters, menus, Christmas cards, catalogs of exhibitions of Turner's paintings, and other memorabilia. Her diary for 1904 includes descriptions of visits to the studios of Sargent, Lavery, and Edwin Austin Abbey. The material documents the honors and awards she received, and also includes miscellaneous personal items: a passport issued in 1922, an affidavit by a cousin documenting her date of birth, her registration book documenting her studies at Columbia Teachers' College, receipts, invitation cards, and caricatures drawn for her in ink and watercolor by Charles Curran. There is also some genealogical material, including a bookplate of her great-grandfather, John Pintard, and letters acknowledging gifts from her to the New-York Historical Society.

With a letter, 1912 Jan. 8, from the Royal Commission for the International Fine-Arts Exhibition (Rome, 1911) thanking Balfour-Browne for his work in promoting the British section of the exhibition.

Shown are mainly British and American artists, predominantly sculptors. Many of the artists are shown with a work in progress, sometimes also with the sitter of a portrait. Some images are of European artists who were working in New York or London. The artist, subject of the work shown, and other information is included in typescript notes attached to the photographs' versos. The majority of these artists, although acclaimed in their time, are not well known today. Collection consists primarily of letters from artists, friends, relatives and businesses which Thomson received during his tenure as an art critic and editor for the Year's art and the Art journal. A few letters written by Thomson are also included. As head of the Goupil Gallery in London, he received letters from leading artists, art dealers and historians such as Thomas Agnew & Sons, Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Bernard Berenson, Félix Bracquemond, Frank Brangwyn, Ford Madox Brown, Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones, David Young Cameron, the French Gallery Edward Linley Sambourne, Walter Sickert, Frederick Stephens, George Frederick Watts, and Gleeson White. The letters reflect art trends and tastes, as well as what was being purchased and by whom, around the turn of the 20th century. They describe what artists are working on, exhibitions in which they are included, their observations on the art world, and notes about their works for reproduction in publications. There are also letters from art patrons in Great Britain, France, Canada, and the United States, and family correspondence, most written to Thomson's son, Herbert. Printed ephemera include newspaper clippings, brochure on exhibition at Barbizon House and some personal documents.
