[by Joannes Justus Lanspergius], ca. 1590, an English version [attributed to Philip, Earl of Arundel], which follows the printed text of 1592-3 fairly closely, except for the verses and hymns which are very different. It does not have "The Instructions" but does have an extra hymn on leaf 62, as well as some additions and alterations in a different hand. He reports on the news of the "Battle of the Spurs," the taking of Térouanne, and the capture of the Duke of Longueville and the Chevalier Bayard by the English; the unsuccessful descent of the King of Scotland into England, etc. A paragraqph, originally in cipher, subsequently written out in full, deals with the sending to Rome of funds needed by the Spanish King. He ends with an appeal for relief from his post and return to Italy.
