Cooper in the case of a payment made to Captain Abraham Foster, and about which I knew nothing on God's earth ... ;" original signed letter from Quesenbury to Charles B. Johnson, announcing the birth of Quesenbury's son and dealing with personal and other matters.

These letterbooks are copies, in an unidentified hand, of orders by William E. Prince, the outgoing officer from the post. They relate to varied problems of the Department of the West such as, topography of the country, reconnaissance for other routes, Indian attacks, disciplinary measures, organization and transportation of troops, food and clothing supplies, poor mail service, leaves of absence, and the release of Captain Cabell at his own request.
