Consists chiefly of photocopies of materials relating to the Montes family of San Elizario, Texas, and the El Paso Salt War of the 1870s. Materials include correspondence between Elizario M. Montes and his uncle, Jesus Montes, who was a participant in the Salt War. Contains information about Octaviano Ambrosio Larrazolo, who was elected to the United States Senate from New Mexico in 1928; as well as about Pascual Orozco, who was active in the Mexican Revolution. Also included are two pamphlets on the Tarahumara Indians, an academic paper (by Blanca Gomez Hill?) concerning author Carlos Arniches, a pamphlet containing English and Spanish Christmas carols, and several photographs. Many of the materials are written in Spanish.

Title: Francisco Vázquez Goméz papers, 1906-1940.

The Francisco Vázquez Goméz collection was donated to the university by his son, Ignacio Vázquez Goméz Norma. It contains approximately 10,000 items spanning the life of Francisco Vázquez Goméz (1860-1933), a key political figure in the Mexican Revolution. About half of the collection pertains to the revolutionary events of 1911. Much of the collection consists of newspaper headlines (both English and Spanish) that follow the political maneuvers of the Anti-Reelectionist party, the group which eventually toppled the Mexican dictator Porfirio Diaz from power. Correspondence between the key players within the revolution and counter-revolution compromise the rest of the collection, which is arranged chronologically. The collection includes many prominent figures in the revolution, such as Francisco I. Madero, Toribio Esquivel Obregón, Juan Sánchez Azcona, Francisco de la Barra, General Pascual Orozco, and Victoriano Huerta. There are documents detailing the Diaz cabinet activities before and during the revolution, which illuminate the role of José Limantour, Diaz' influential economic Minister. There are commentaries on Madero's revolutionary call to arms, the Plan San Luis Potosi, written in prison and released to the world while organizing a junta in San Antonio, Texas. There are also research materials on the Mexican revolution from scholars, including some of Ignacio Vázquez Goméz Norma's papers.

Chiefly commercial, real photograph postcards of scenes pertaining to the Mexican Revolution. Photographs depict war casualties, soldiers, artillery, military encampments, prisoners of war, parades and other public demonstrations, and la Decena Trágica. Among the individuals depicted are Pancho Villa (one postcard shows different views of his body after his assassination), Francisco Madero, Victoriano Huerta, Pascual Orozco, Plutarco Eliás Calles, and a group of Yaqui soldiers. Among the Mexican locations depicted are Mexico City and Ciudad Juárez. Also depicts United States military presence along the U.S.-Mexico border.
