This collection is comprised of fourteen scrapbooks assembled by R.A. Gray and includes a typewritten introduction. Most of the scrapbooks consist of miscellaneous items such as photographs, clippings and letters pertaining to Gray's public and private life arranged in no discernible order with handwritten or typed commentary.

Whitfield, James Bryan, 1860-1948. Papers, ca. 1906-1948.

The collection contains the papers of James B. Whitfield, most of which deal with Florida history. It includes some correspondence, including letters from Theodore Roosevelt, William D. Bloxham, R.A. Gray, and Millard F. Caldwell. Whitfield's manuscripts touch on numerous aspects and incidents of Florida history. There are also galley proofs of some of his manuscripts and Florida history articles by other authors. There are photographs of the State Supreme Court Justices, James B. Whitfield, governmental activities, Prince and Princess Murat, and aspects of Florida history. Newspaper clippings document Whitfield's career from appointment to retirement. There are also some of Whitfield's publications on legal issues and various other publications, such as directories, law journals, and an Attorney General report of 1903. Also included in the collection are numerous awards, honors, and citations presented to Whitfield during the course of his career.

The R.A. Gray Collection consists of four items: 1. Civil War letter (1863) written by Gray's Great Uncle, W.D. Howren, and addressed to Lt. J.C. Blake; 2. 3-page World War II letter signed "Buck", Philippine Islands, A.P.O. 715 to "Dear Roy" which was written by another relative of Gray's and which describes a campaign in the mountains. 3. Newspaper clipping from the Tallahassee Democrat, Jan. 9, 1959, which pertains to a talk given to the Tallahassee Historical Society by Dr. J. Russell Reaver that was based on letters written by the Blakes and Cromarties of Miccosukee, Fla. during the Civil War; 4. letter written by Gray, Jan. 12, 1959, to Mrs. Virginia J. Edington, FSU Library, which accompanied the gifts.
